Whether you’re folks who are constantly on the go or a family of jetsetters, the last thing you need when trying to rein in the kids, is a gigantic stroller that’s in everyone’s face and space.

A lightweight alternative is worth considering if you’re keen to leave the big, bulky stroller at home. Commonly referred to as umbrella strollers, these are usually less than 7kg or less.

Easy to fold and unfold as well as manoeuvre around, these prams are ideal for little ones 6 months and older, when the neck is strong enough to hold up the head. A newborn attachment is even included in some designs, so that you can use the baby buggy from birth.

You can put the folded system into a big bag, or use the strap to sling it over your shoulder. They are also small enough to meet the requirements for travelling in our public buses.

Though light and compact, these bad boys still offers heaps of features. Scroll through the photo gallery to discover our top picks.

Mountain Buggy Nano V2

PRICE $399

FROM First Few Years

WHAT One of the biggest players in the all-terrain buggy universe, the Nano V2’s seats are made from mesh ventilation material for added comfort on hot and humid days. The sun canopy has a flick-out sun visor for extra sun protection. When folded, it measures only 12 inches by 22 inches by 20 inches, so storage is easy-peasy.
