Topic 1: Breastfeeding tips for new mums
Synopsis: Many women struggle with breastfeeding as nursing is a skill they need to learn. Our experts will not only discuss ways in which you can improve your breastfeeding efforts, but also some of the common challenges faced by nursing mothers. 

Topic 2: Common newborn illnesses to look out for
Synopsis: Bringing a newborn home from the hospital is both exciting and nerve-wracking, especially for first-time mums. Are you familiar with common newborn ailments? For instance, how do you tell that your baby has a fever? Do you know how to take his temperature? What about ways to bring it down? A paediatrician has these details, so you’ll get a head start on better managing your newborn’s illness when it arises.

Synopsis: Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause a variety of skin problems such as acne and rashes. Hear from Jiahui on how she treats er pregnancy skin problems and ways to get your skin glowing! Not forgetting to hear her parenting experiences and how she handles her baby when unwell.

Synopsis: A healthy pregnancy starts with you! Your body goes through numerous physical and hormonal changes during pregnancy and what you eat during this time will affect your health and your baby’s development. Even after giving birth, you will still need to eating healthily! Know what’s good, what’s not, and how proper nutrition can boost your baby’s growth and development.

Ms Uma Thambidurai is a British trained nurse/midwife and a lactation consultant. She commenced her career over thirty years ago because of her passion in working with mothers and babies. Her career took her to the UK, Malaysia, Melbourne in Australia and Singapore where she has worked for the last fourteen years as a lactation consultant.

She took over the helm of Mother and Child eleven years ago and have strived to serve the community better. She is privileged to work with an exceptional team of health professionals who share the same passion as she does, working with mothers and babies. she has two grown up children; a daughter and son.

ISABELLE FABER

Ms Isabelle Faber is a registered nurse and midwife trained in Belgium and Luxembourg. Before coming to Singapore she worked in tertiary and secondary care hospitals in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Australia.

As a midwife she is a strong supporter of women’s interests. This was behind the motivation of her thesis, “Women’s autonomy and reproductive responsibilities during the course of assisted reproductive technology”. She is looking forward to meeting you soon at Mother & Child and it will be a privilege to accompany you on your parenthood path!

Dr Ng is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with advanced laparoscopic skills. He graduated from National University of Singapore. Dr Ng also holds a Diploma in advance laparoscopy (Dip. Eur Gyn Endoscopy) from Clermont Ferrand laparoscopic center in France. He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia Pacific.

Dr Ng has vast experiences in performing surgeries and deliveries. He is passionate about offering the best surgical solutions for management of gynaecological conditions, and is dedicated to offering the best obstetrics and gynecological care for his patients. As a father, he understands the challenges of parents and takes pride in partnering patients in their healthcare journey.

TAN ZHEN HAN (1)

Dr Tan Zhen Han graduated on the Dean’s List from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2008. He attained his postgraduate qualifications with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) in 2012, attained accreditation with the Specialist Accreditation Board as a Specialist in Paediatric Medicine in 2014, and was conferred Fellowship by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2015.

Over his seven years tenure at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Singapore General Hospital, Dr Tan trained in various departments including Paediatric Medicine, Neonatology, Intensive Care, Children’s Emergency, and Paediatric Subspecialities.

Dr Tan is an active volunteer with the Children’s Special Needs Support Group in his church.
