Topic 1: What is infertility and what fertility treatment options are available?
Synopsis: Infertility prevents a couple to conceive a child. Medical Director Dr Loh Seong Feei will elaborate on this condition and suggest ways you can boost your fertility with the treatment options available.
Topic 2: Acupuncture and Fertility: How it works.
Synopsis: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which includes the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, has a rich history in treating infertility, as well as plenty of success stories about improving the pregnancy rate. TCM Physician Ms Chen Fang will share details on how TCM treatment can boost fertility.
Topic 3: What happens in the IVF Lab?
Synopsis: Your IVF journey should not be mysterious as the laboratory is an important part of the IVF process. To help you better understand your chances of success, Head & Chief Embryologist Dr Ethiraj Balaji Prasath tells you what goes on in the lab and the science behind growing embryos in-vitro.

Dr Loh Seong Feei was Head of the Reproductive Medicine Department and Director of the KKIVF Center before joining Thomson Fertility Center as its Medical Director. During his tenure at KKIVF, he helped shape the center into the biggest IVF centre in Singapore. From 2008 to 2010, the center performed a few thousand IVF cycles with good pregnancy success rates. He believes in a holistic and problem-oriented approach to the treatment of infertility. Dr Loh, who been instrumental in developing reproductive surgery, has treated many patients with endometriosis, uterine fibroids and tubal disease. He has helped many couples realise their dreams of becoming parents to date.
He believes that fertility treatment should be patient-centered and patient-friendly and that fertility programmes should be tailored to the needs of each individual couple.
Ms Chen graduated from the Nanjing University of TCM with a Masters in TCM Diagnostics. Following Professor Wu Cheng Yu from Nanjing University of TCM, she has a keen interest in TCM Gynaecology and internal medicine management according to individual constitution.
Ms Chen is a fully registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Physician with the TCM Practitioners Board and a member of the Singapore Chinese Physicians’ Association.
Dr Balaji is Chief Embryologist of the IVF lab at Thomson Fertility Centre. During his 17 years as KKIVF’s chief embryologist, he managed the IVF and Andrology labs, as well as the National Sperm Bank of Singapore. Dr Balaji, who has published and presented numerous papers, has been invited to speak at more than 25 national and international conferences. He was an Adjunct Lecturer at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School from 2009 to 2011). Part of the Editorial Committees of three international journals, he is also a member of the Pro-term National Oversight Committee on Human Animal Combination Research, MOH, Singapore.
Dr Balaji, who has trained many doctors and embryologists in IVF lab techniques, played a leading role in Singapore’s first pregnancy and live birth from Laser Assisted Hatching. His most recent achievement was the world’s first live birth from frozen-thawed embryos obtained from a surgically-removed cancerous ovary.
