Restaurant Reviews: Mischief

American staples will keep you and your kiddos happy!

Address: #01-12 Esplanade Mall, 8 Raffles Avenue, 6532-0481

Mischief’s attractive kids’ menu and the wide-open spaces at the Esplanade and the riverside make eating a breeze to dine out with your kiddos!

Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday, 5pm to 3am, Sunday, 5pm to 11pm.

Opened by local celebrities Michelle Chong, Cynthia Koh and Daniel Ong, Mischief serves street food inspired by food trucks in America.

Before you start thinking that it’s all about the hot dogs and sloppy joes, get a load of their new menu: Hearty mains like the Homemade Meatball Pasta, $24, will wow you with its prime ingredients like Wagyu chuck, and dishes like the Grilled Iberico Slices, $16, serviced with a chili-peanut sauce and cous-cous will get your mouth watering.

The seafood dishes are yummy, too. Perfect on its own, or shared among your brood is the Cod Fish Charcoal, $16 — it’s quite a sight to see pieces of fish wrapped in jet-black charcoal batter, but the mildly spicy flavours left us wanting more.

While your young ’uns busy themselves just outside the restaurant — more on that later — don’t hesitate to grab an in-house cocktail. You’ll be thrilled with concoctions with names like Bangkok Sour and Liquid Blueberry Cheesecake ($18 each).

We were stuffed but made room for the ondeh-ondeh sponge cake with salted coconut caramel, $14. Fans of this local kueh will adore this!

Mischief’s lovely, laidback location at the Esplanade will let your little ones feel free at the space right outside. Dine alfresco, and you’ll chill with drinks while they run around or ride their scooters. We hear that the Esplanade frequently organises free outdoor performances at the space – check those out here .

We’re always grateful when efforts are made to make the little ones feel welcome, so we were glad to see colouring sheets whipped out to keep them busy while parents peruse the menu. Baby chairs are also available upon request.

When it comes to the grub, the kiddos will be thrilled to pick from four choices of mains — chicken tenders with fries, $10, fish ’n’ chips, $10, cheeseburger with fries, $12, and fresh tomato pasta, $8. They could add on a juice for $3, or an ice-blended fruit smoothie for $5. Alternatively, treat junior to a vanilla ice cream for $3 more.
