Read on to find out what these dads did that made such a lasting impact on their daughters.
You can’t put a price on a father’s love, but two loving daughters came close to trying when they took part in Mediacorp’s “Surprise Your Dad” contest recently.
Held in conjunction with the upcoming Dad’s Day Out 2018 event on June 17, the competition called for contestants to write in to either 987fm or 938NOW radio station to tell them why they think their dads deserve to win $500 in cash. After a tough decision process, two outstanding fathers were picked as the winners and their prizes were hand delivered by the DJs as part of the surprise…
First winner: James Rajan was surprised by 938NOW DJ, Paul Sng, when his daughter Shibah Grace James wrote in to the station, telling them about her father’s determination and resilience. Her father had fallen ill in 2012 and became bedridden, unable to walk without feeling pain in his feet. Despite having to give up his business, James refused to give up on himself. Four years later, he’s literally back on his feet starting up the same business again. “Despite all odds, he shows his love for us and he looks healthier despite his chronic illness. His motto is ‘character sustains and lifts’,” Shibah wrote in her letter.
Second winner: 987fm DJ Charmain surprised Georgelin Francis Fernandez after his daughter Victoria Kirsten Fernandez wrote a letter listing out five reasons why her dad was the best and why he deserves the $500. She mentioned that her dad always took care of her when she’s sick, gave great advice, and has always tried to cheer her up despite her anxiety attacks and stress from school. Victoria is also grateful that her father would get her the things she needs although they are on a tight budget and he’s always there for her no matter the circumstances. “These are the 5 reasons why I have the best dad and I think he deserves the $500 as he tries his best for me as his only daughter with three older brothers”, she added.
