It’s great to let junior get bored now and again, but since you’ll be spending plenty of time with the kiddos this school break, you should make the most of it!

Not only will this be the breather they need before tackling the rest of the school year, you’ll be creating fond memories together as a family.

If you’re trying to figure out how to keep them engaged and entertained for a month, we’ve sussed out scores of fab events and activities to check out with junior.

Whether it’s an interactive exhibition, family-friendly events and free mall activities, or outdoor play areas, we list them all!

1. 100 and 100 More Festival at the ArtGround This inaugural 10-day festival from 25 to 27 May aims to entertain children of all ages, even newborns. Into the Blue Forest is an immersive children's theatre production that tells the story of a green tree trying to stand out among a busy blue forest. Your kiddos will get to step into the green tree’s world to see how forest animals will help it grow and find its place in the forest. Suitable for children between 4 and 8 years of age. Ticket prices start from $22 per person. Also, babies below age 1 can dance, sing and make music in the interactive show, Snigel & Friends from 1 to 3 June at various time slots. Snigel, an inquisitive snail, will invite junior to journey through a colourful sensory world to meet new friends and uncover hidden treasures in the musical garden. Ticket prices start at $22 for a parent-infant pair. The ArtGround is located at #01-40, 90 Goodman Road, Goodman Arts Centre, Block J.

2. Skyline Luge Sentosa Now that two new thrilling luge tracks have been added, you and your young ’uns can expects twists, turns and thrills as you race each other downhill. The new tracks, called Expedition and Kupu Kupu, promises a heart-stopping race through tunnels and steep slopes. Go in the evening and you’ll enjoy a different and cooler experience as bright colours bathe the tracks. Take the Skyride (four-person chairlift) to the starting point and you’ll enjoy a breathtaking views of the Singapore skyline. Prices for combo tickets to the Luge and Skyride range from $23 to $39. Luge rides are suitable for children aged 6 and above and 110cm in height or more. Open from 10am to 9.30pm daily.

3. Tabby Mctat No cat can sing like Tabby McTat, Fred the guitar-playing busker’s cat,who happens to be the star of this fun-filled children’s theatre production. Tabby loves to sing as people throw coins in Fred’s hat. But one terrible day, Fred is separated from Tabby after he chases a thief. Will they ever be able to find each other again? At 5pm on Friday and 11am, 2pm and 4.30pm on weekends at KC Arts Centre, Home of SRT, from 8 to 10 June. Tickets from $38 per person.
4. Ocean Fest at the S.E.A. Aquarium This eye-opening festival shows your mini-me what they can do to reduce the impact of plastic pollution in the ocean. While they play a detective role in Ocean Lab, you can browse through a range of eco-friendly products at the aquarium’s very first Ocean Eco-market. Also enjoy an interactive underwater show or be inspired by the “Life in Plastic” art installations that are fashioned from plastic recovered from the sea. A one-day ticket to S.E.A. Aquarium costs $39 per adult aged 13 to 59, $29 per child aged 12 and below and $29 per senior citizen aged 60 and above.

5. TinkrFest at Science Centre Singapore Put your child’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths skills to the test at this weeklong series of science workshops filled with engaging hands-on activities. For instance, the “Robot’s Amazing Journey” workshop challenges you and your tween to apply design and engineering skills to help Dash, the robot, cross a river, climb mountains or navigate its way through an open field. You will also be tasked to create bridges, roads and paths to ensure Dash reaches its destination safely. In “Mini-Playground”, your tween can even design his own dream playground or theme park — complete with a miniature and fully-functional swing, rollercoaster or a Ferris wheel — using the craft materials provided. Suitable for kids aged 5 to 10. From 28 to 1 June, from 10.30am to 12.30pm daily. Prices from $30 per parent-and-child pair; $21 for Science Centre Members. 6. Science Titans — celebrating the victories of science at Science Centre Singapore Take your kiddos on a trip back in time to rediscover the greatest scientists and inventors of the past. They will find out more about these “titans” of science who have made significant scientific contributions. Your little ones will also learn what is required to test and prove facts scientifically. Suitable for children aged 5 and above. From 30 May to 1 June and from 5 to 8 June. Happening at the Science Centre Galleries from 10.30am to noon and 2.30pm to 4pm. Science Centre admission charges apply.

7. Crossfire Paintball at Singapore Discovery Centre Junior will challenge their pals or cousins in a thrilling face-off that will teach them the importance of being physically agile and strategising in order to beat their opponents in a paintball match. Their objective, to invade their opponent’s base without getting hit by too many paintballs. All players will be given a vest and mask to protect them from major injury. $26.75 per player for a 90-minute session. $42.80 per player for a 120-minute session. Shower facilities are available, so do bring along toiletries to clean up after your game.

8. Future World This is one cool permanent exhibition to check out at the ArtScience Museum. Besides marvelling at the numerous digital installations, your sweetie can watch his adorable drawings come to life on the big screen at this kid-friendly showcase, plus enter an awesome “crystal universe” illuminated by 170,000 LED lights that change colour. A family package costs $36.80 (two adults and two kids).

9. Environmental Science Workshop at Science Centre Singapore Attending this workshop will teach your children all about the importance of caring for Mother Nature and wildlife. Hands-on activities within the workshop should spark junior’s hidden eco-warrior! $65 per child, excluding entry to the Science Centre. Suitable for kids aged from 9 to 12. On 1 or 8 June from 9.30am to 1pm at the Defending Science Room, Hall A, Level 2. Online pre-registration is required, limited to 40 participants per session.

10. Water play at Compass One and Waterway Point Families living in the Northeast can now avail themselves of fab play areas in neighbouring malls. The Ninja Trail at Compass One boasts both a dry play area and a mini-water obstacle course. Or hop over to Waterway Point’s Happy Park, an outdoor play area featuring both wet and dry action.

11. Fun with Fear Science Show at Science Centre Singapore If your mini-explorer has been bombarding you with questions like why does their heart pound when they hear a loud sound? Or why does their breath quicken when they are left in a dark room? Then, this interactive and entertaining science show will put their questions to rest. The scientists and presenters will supervise your mini-me as they to look into how the human body reacts to fear and phobia. Suitable for children aged 5 and above. From 26 May to 24 June at 4pm daily at the Maxwell Auditorium Hall B. Entry charges to the Science Centre will apply.

12. The More We Get Together: Singapore’s Playgrounds 1930 ― 2030 Before social media and gadget-fuelled fun came along, playgrounds were where children in the neighbourhood gathered to play. Your young ’un will journey back in time to revisit the iconic “dragon” playgrounds of 1970s. You offspring will get a better appreciation of the meaningful role of playgrounds in fostering a sense of community at this exhibition. From 20 April to 30 September at the National Museum of Singapore’s Stamford Gallery. Open from 10 am to 7pm ― admission is free.

13. Dads for Life Camp 2018 Calling all dads! This is the perfect opportunity for you to spend quality time camping and enjoying one-on-one time with your son or daughter. You’ll even get the chance to watch the “live” telecast of the World Cup with junior as part of this two-day camp at the Singapore Sports Hub. Besides doing something adventurous with each other, this camping experience lets you both connect on a deeper level without any interruptions from your gadgets. From 2pm on 16 June to 9am on 17 June. Registration costs $100 per father-and-child pair ― the cost includes dinner, night snack, breakfast, goodie bag, an event T-shirt and a two-man tent! Your children must be at least 7 years old to participate. Online booking ― required ― closes on 31 May.

14. Don’t Say Bo Jio at Singapore Zoo Visit the Singapore Zoo on weekends during the June school hols and participate in exclusive activities held to mark its 45^th anniversary. Come and challenge yourself to complete the “U-dunno-meh?” Checklist which features 45 things you never knew you could do at the zoo, including petting a ferret and greeting the baby rhino! Team up with junior and complete fun activities around the zoo to collect and earn exclusive animal badges! In the late afternoon, to catch a movie screening of In The Wild at the Pavilion by the Lake. From 27 May to 26 June, zoo admission costs $35 per adult, $23 per child aged 12 and below and $16 per senior citizen aged 60 and above.

15. Marine Cove If you haven’t been to this huge play area at East Coast Park, you need to make tracks there, stat. Besides a host of new dining options, the sprawling new 3,500sq m playground includes a three-storey play tower and lots of climbing structures for younger kids.

16. Everybirdy’s Welcome to Our Colourful Home at the Jurong Bird Park Explore the world and take a walk among our feathered friends at this special school holiday event at the Bird Park. Your mini-explorer will enjoy the entertaining Birdz of Play puppet show where they’ll get to learn fun facts about these feathered friends. Visit the Wetlands and Breeding and Research Centre in the park around noon or 4.30pm daily to chat with the keepers and learn more about the Macaws and Scarlet Ibises. Encourage your mini-Picasso to leave his artistic marks on the Art Colouring Wall, located at the Penguin Coast, filled with miniature cartoon birds. From 26 May to 24 June. Admission costs $30 per adult and $20 per child aged 12 and below and $14 per senior citizen aged 60 and above.

17. Air Force Museum Take your peewee on an educational journey where he’ll learn all about the history of the Singapore Air Force and how it safeguards our skies. They’ll be inspired by the air men and air women through the ages ― don’t miss the outdoor gallery where they can even get up close with fighter jets. Admission is free.

18. Bounce Inc. Your budding parkour buff will have a thorough workout when they attempt the X-Park Adventure Challenge obstacle course at this indoor trampoline park. Designed in collaboration with the world’s best bouldering and parkour experts, the course boasts 14 different elements such as a zip-line, a warped wall and a bouldering wall replicating TV’s popular Ninja Warrior gameshow. The Slam Dunk area features padded walls and floor mats along a runway trampoline which your kiddo will jump on to enough height to throw a basketball through the full-height hoops. The Leap of Faith will be another favourite for your little adrenaline-junkie. Jumpers will need to climb on to a raised platform and leap from it to catch hold of the trapeze or a grab bag. $25 per person for first hour; $20 per person for every additional hour applies for jumpers over 110cm in height. $17 per person for first hour, $12 for each additional hour for kids aged 3 and above and under 110cm in height. Jumpers must bring their own socks or buy a pair for $3 to enter the park.

19. Once Upon a River at River Safari Be the first to catch the premier of a brand new 20-minute storytelling session — called Once Upon A River — presented by the River Safari’s friendly keepers. Junior will also come face-to-face with the river’s animals who will also star in the show happening at 11.30am and 3.30pm daily at the Boat Plaza. Otherwise, your brood will also enjoy a splashing good time learning about various animals such as the pelicans by participating in some fun and exciting river games at the Giant Panda Courtyard from 10am to 4pm daily. Want to experience a different side of the River Safari? Then sign up for an hour long behind-the-scenes tour at the Manatee Mania and Amazing Amazonia enclosures, where your kids will be able to feed the animals alongside the keepers! Additional fees apply and online pre-registration is required for these special tours. From 2 to 24 June. Admission costs $32 per adult, $21 per child aged 12 and below and $15 per senior citizen aged 60 and above.

20. Diggersite@ORTO If you’ve got a construction-obsessed little guy or gal, this is definitely the place to be. Diggersite@ORTO at Lorong Chencharu is packed with mini-construction vehicles like tower cranes, excavators and forklifts that budding builders can operate on their own (those under 6 years need to be accompanied by an adult). Knock down plastic bottles with a mini-wrecking ball, drive a forklift loaded with a wooden mallet, or use a digger to scoop sand into a bucket. Alternatively, dive into the sand pit full of digging toys, or hop onto the coal-mine cart ride that takes you around the compound. Don’t forget to slap on sunscreen, as the rides are mostly outdoors! Each ride, lasting 5 to 7 minutes, costs $5.

21. Jurassic World: Explore & Roar at Universal Studios Singapore Step into the exciting world of these ginormous creatures and catch the premiere of an all new live action show that fencludes an interactive raptor training programme. From 2 June to 22 August, a one-day ticket to Universal Studios Singapore costs $76 per adult aged 13 to 59, $56 per child aged from 4 to 12 and $38 per senior citizen aged 60 and above.

22. Busy Tables Love sensory table-top play but not sure how to go about doing it? Head to Busy Tables at Rochester Mall and let your little ones engage in a free-and-easy play session. Besides doing craft activities, they’ll get access to hundreds of educational toys and learning resources. Entry costs $10 for kids under 1 year and $18 for kids aged 2 and above. The play session is 120 minutes on weekdays and 90 minutes on weekends.

23. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Sungei Buloh is the perfect place to take your brood for a picturesque nature retreat. Take a walk along the Migratory Bird Trail to spot birds, flowers and fruit, as well as mangrove trees. You might also catch sight of mudskippers, otters, monitor lizards and perhaps, even a crocodile. Admission is free.

24. Children Little Museum Located in Kampong Glam, this little gem of a gallery displays toys and trinkets of yesteryear. Check out kites, chapteh, and other vintage paraphernalia in this quaint two-storey shophouse along Bussorah Street. The entrance fee is $2.

25. Rainbow Culinary Workshop at Science Centre Singapore Bond with your kids while you both learn how to whip up nutritious and tasty dishes by including edible flowers and herbs in this workshop. You and your mini-me will also take a guided tour of the Science Centre’s Ecogarden. You’ll need to bring your own water bottles, food containers and cutlery for the workshop. Happening on 2 June from 10 am to 12pm. Tickets cost $40 per adult and child pair. Admission fees to the Science Centre applies.

26. Alive Museum Love optical illusions, or can’t resist snapping unusual photos of your brood? Then spend a couple of hours at this Suntec City museum and put yourself in more than 80 “masterpieces” where you might be attacked by a large croc, or have by Superman carry you “up, up and away”. Tickets cost $25 for adults, and $20 for kids aged 3 to 12.

27. Splash@Kids Amaze Have a splashing good time at Singapore’s first indoor water playground. Located at Safra Punggol, it’s suitable for kids aged 18 months to 13 years old. Prices start at $8 for kids aged 18 months to 13, and $2 for accompanying adult.

28. Tech Junior: Jungle & Safari Adventures workshop Your mini-scientist will be tasked to design their own binoculars which they will use to explore a Virtual Reality jungle to hunt for animals. They will also be tinkering with tools that were used for hunting in the past such as slingshots. Suitable for children from ages 3 to 6. On 19 to 22 June at 9am to 1pm daily at Hatched @ Holland Village. It costs $398 each to register.

29. Science & Tech Junior: Food Science Mania workshop Your kiddo will learn how to extract DNA from fruits such as strawberries and even create their very own game controllers by passing electricity through these fruits to test its conductivity. The session will show junior that the food they eat provides more than just energy and nutrients! Suitable for children from ages 5 to 8. On 13 and 14 June from 9am to 1pm daily at Hatched @ Holland Village. Registration costs $200 per participant.

30. Singapore Maritime Gallery Let your mini-captain test his steering skills when he takes the wheel at the Ship Handling stimulator at the Singapore Maritime Gallery. Open from 9am to 5.30pm at Marina South Pier, it also features a ship spotter installation where junior can pan and tilt digital scanners to learn all about various vessels, plus, get a taste of navigating the high seas. Open daily except Monday. Admission is free.

31. The Animal Resort Think you can’t have a rural adventure in Singapore? Think again! Head to The Animal Resort at Seletar West Farmway 5, and let the kiddos mingle with some of the cutest rabbits, ducks, chickens, plus a laidback horse. There’s plenty of space for little ones to play with the animals as well as feed them. Don’t leave home without insect repellent, though, as its resident mosquitoes make the experience all the more authentic!

32. Kaboodle Love building larger than life structures? This indoor playground boasts a “build-it-yourself” space where little ones use their imagination and human-sized blue blocks (made of light and bendy material) to get creative. Kaboodle also organises regular arts and crafts sessions, Nerf gun shootouts and holiday events. From $15 on weekdays for kids aged under 3.

33. TAG TEAM @ Downtown East This laser tag gun battle is right up your alley if you want to experience the thrills of a paintball match without being dealing with the elements or having to clean up after. Players can “slash”, “slice” and even “stab” their opponents with the new and improved Reza Sword gun. Nor do you need to be in a team to fight, solo players can take on mystical creatures projected on the walls, thanks to the augmented reality gameplay! As laser tag guns use infrared technology, this is a safe and harmless game for children of all ages. Registration start at $15 per player per mission — which lasts about 10 to 15 minutes — on off-peak days (weekdays except Fridays and public holidays) and $18 per player per mission on peak days (Fridays, weekends and public holidays).

34. Truly Madly Science — CheMystery at Science Centre Singapore Junior will discover their ability to create some colour-changing, bubble-forming and heat-producing magic just by harnessing the powers of a chemical reaction. They will also try out different science experiments to unveil the mysteries behind the cause of a chemical reaction and learn if it’s possible to reverse its effects. Suitable for children from 10 to 12 years old. $350 each, including lunch. A two-day holiday camp from 12 to 13 June, 10am to 4pm at the Science Centre Singapore. Online registration is required.

35. Serious Gaming Camp at Singapore Science Centre Go behind the scenes and learn top secret scientific concepts that will help your young ’un solve problems while attempting an exciting round of Minecraft. Suitable for children from 10 to 12 years of age. $350 each, including lunch. From 19 to 20 June from 10am to 4pm. Online registration is required.

36. Imaginarium: Into the Space of Time The Singapore Art Museum’s annual family-friendly exhibition, Imaginarium, is back for the eighth edition. This time, the exhibition spotlights the concept of time and the stories that shape our experiences. From charting the movement of planets to recording our days, junior will learn how the human art of journalling has changed through time. Short films will also be screened at the museum’s Moving Gallery on Sundays. Be sure to check out The Girl and the Cat, a 13-minute-long whimsical short film about a young girl embarking on a wild and weird adventure with three stray cats after she is separated from her mother at a pasar malam (Malay for night market) at Geylang Serai. Free entry for Singaporeans and permanent residents. At SAM at 8Q, 8 Queen Street.

37. South East Asia (SEA) Aquarium The Open Ocean section of the S.E.A. Aquarium, which houses more than 100,000 marine animals from over 800 species, will enthrall your sweetie. Keep your eyes peeled as gentle giants like the leopard shark, saw fish and manta rays glide right past. Next, let junior crawl into a kid-sized entrance and look up through a glass dome to inspect the moray eels! Tickets start at $18 for children aged 4 to 12 years old and $30 for adults.

38. Farm tour at Farmart Centre Sign up for an interactive guided tour and learn about quail farming, as well as local fish, goat, crocodile and vegetable farm attractions. Contact Uncle William at 9450-0752.

39. Madame Tussauds “Mingle” with Hollywood stars, musicians, politicians and athletes at Madame Tussauds Singapore. This exhibition is surprisingly kid-friendly ― junior can even shoot hoops with Yao Ming, tee-off with Tiger Woods and even “meet” the late Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew. Book your tickets online at $25 for adults and $15 for kids.

40. Katapult Trampoline Park Burn off some of your kiddo’s energy and even cull your own calories here! Trampoline parks aren’t just great fun for the kids, it’s a fantastic workout for adults, too. Katapult boasts 30 linked trampolines where you can play dodgeball, free fall into a huge airbag, or do a slam dunk. Kids aged 4 and under require adult supervision. Prices start at $15 for an hour (non-peak rates) of jump-time.

41. Forest Adventure If your Energizer Bunny is a natural climber, he’ll definitely want to tackle the Forest Adventure Course at Bedok Reservoir. The Grand Course is made up of 44 different obstacles, while littlies can enjoy the Junior Course designed for children aged 5 to 10. It boasts 22 crossings, including two awesome zip lines! Prices are $36/child for the kid’s course and $50/adult for the grand course.

42. Bollywood Veggies This iconic farm at Neo Tiew Road is the perfect way to retreat from urban life with your little ones. You’ll learn just how the food that you eat is grown and harvested, plus, get to taste fresh produce as you explore the gardens. Find bitter gourd, custard apples, eggplant and more than 20 varieties of bananas. Head to Poison Ivy Bistro once you’ve worked up an appetite ― almost all the vegetables, herbs and spices served by the bistro are grown on the farm. The entrance fee is $2, you pay for what you eat at the bistro.

43. Clip ‘n Climb With 19 exciting climbing challenges for climbers of any level, you’ll be able to scale new heights with junior at Our Tampines Hub’s new family-friendly climbing area. Everyone will climb with peace of mind as an automatic belay system ensures the safety of your family members or friends. An individual walk-in ticket costs $25 for 90 minutes. You pay $6 for every additional 30 minutes after that.

44. Fire Station Open House Every Saturday morning, all fire stations in Singapore (except Jurong Island Fire Station) conduct an Open House for members of the public. From 9am to 11am, your munchkin will watch firemen jump into their fire-protective suits, learn about the different parts of the fire engine and even sit at the wheel of the “Red Rhinos”. Admission is free.

46. KidZania Kids get a chance to do a dry run for their future careers at this huge indoor playspace at Palawan Kidz City in Sentosa. They will take on “grown up” roles like a pilot, a radio deejay or a chef, and get paid with in KidZo, KidZania’s own currency, which he can then use to purchase souvenirs. Entry costs $25 for tots aged 2 and 3, $58 for kids aged 4 to 17, and $35 for adults.

47. Admiralty Park Playground This park, just next to Republic Polytechnic in Woodlands, boasts an astounding 26 different slides — the largest number in Singapore! There’s also an inclusive playground which includes a wheel-chair friendly swing and merry-go-round. Be sure to check out the Family Terracing play area ― here, you challenge your kiddo to see whom zip down the twin metallic tube slides first. At 23m long and 9m high, it’s the longest and tallest slide in any public park! Don’t forget to explore the first-ever family slide that’s wide enough to accommodate a family of four. Your mini-me will also dig the 34m long curved roller slide over at the Adventure Play section.

48. My Little Giant: Kids’ Indoor Playpark Besides usual features like a ball pit, slides and padded obstacle courses, this indoor playground also boasts a miniature train that zips around the playpark. Then there are also arcade game stations, a miniature merry-go-round and a hockey table to keep them occupied, too. Open daily from 11am to 10pm on weekdays, 10am to 10pm on weekends. From Mondays to Thursdays, tickets are $10 per child under 3 years; $18 per child aged from 3 to 16; On Fridays, weekends and public holiday tickets are $15 per child under age 3 and $25 per child aged 3 to 16. 49. Mint Museum of Toys Revisit your childhood by checking out this world-class collection of over 50,000 vintage toys and childhood memorabilia on show with your little ones. Mint’s collection comprises numerous toys and games ranging from figurines and soft toys, to vehicles. The museum’s prized possessions include the Alice Doll from the UK, made popular in the 1930s by Farnell, as well as the Mickey Mouse Hurdy Gurdy that was popular in Germany in the 1930s. The themed displays are spread across six levels. Tickets are priced at $15 per adult and $7.50 per child aged 2 to 12.


50. HADO Asia Come and experience how Augmented Reality (AR) games are changing the way your tween will be playing video games in the near future. Split into teams of two or three and challenge each other to a round of digital dodgeball. In this game, your physical agility and hand-eye-coordination will be tested as you move to avoid being hit by powerful “energy balls” that you’ll only see from your AR headset. In another game, HADO Shoot, players earn points by launching powerful fireballs at poisonous mushrooms and cute-looking creatures that run toward the player. Located at #02-15 *SCAPE, 2 Orchard Link, open from 12pm to 9pm daily. Digital dodgeball costs $12 per player, $11 per student; $15 per player on weekends and $14 per student. HADO Shoot costs $6 per player and $5 per student.
