A checklist of essentials to get you ready for a family vacation.
Now that you’re mentally set for a happy first family holiday with your bambino, here’s what you need to pack into your luggage - besides the mandatory cute outfits for your little one, of course.
A first-aid kit
Take sachets of infant paracetamol, teething gel, plasters, antiseptic cream, mosquito repellent and antihistamine cream.
Baby food
Flight restrictions don’t apply to baby food and drink, so pack some in your hand luggage.
Steriliser
Use a liquid sterilising solution (try Milton), or buy bottles that can be sterilised in the microwave on their own (try Mam Anti-Colic bottles).
Spoons, bowls and bibs
Wipe-down rubber bibs don’t need laundering and can be used multiple times (try Baby Bjorn).
Night light
For night-time feeds.
White noise
Great for muffling out unfamiliar noises. The White Noise By TM app (US$1.99/$2.45 on iTunes) comes highly recommended by Dr Oz, Oprah Winfrey’s go-to medical expert.
Baby sling
Much easier than lugging a stroller on the plane, or when you sightsee.
Car seat
Or look into hiring it at your destination.
Travel-sized detergent
Instead of taking several outfits, hand wash as you go. Or send it to your hotel laundry.
Hats
A must for all sunny destinations.
Sunscreen
If your cutie is under 6 months, keep her out of the sun and slather plenty of SPF30 on her.
Bubba's beloved blankie
Babies sleep better with familiar bedding.
Universal sink plug
Turns a sink into an instant baby bath.
