Take a break from the fast-paced city life and head over to Canopy.

At Canopy, you’ll get that much-needed break from the frenzy of the city, thanks to the lush park setting. A big plus is that junior will adore having the run of the garden when you pick an outdoor table at what’s called the Middle Rock. No worries about the sweltering heat either as the glass roof boasts loads of greenery to keep it cool even as you kick back with some wine (30 labels) or some other tipple, including Hoegaarden Rose, $16/pint.

Canopy-Drink

Dine indoors and soak in the greenhouse vibe — thanks to glass panels that allow sunlight to dapple your air-conditioned surroundings as you make your way through a leisurely meal. The extensive menu is divided into brunch, dinner, takeaway, tapas and kids’ eats. Since different dishes are available at various times of the day, do check out what you’d like to dig into at www.canopygardendining.com.sg before you head there.

Canopy-muesli

We enjoyed the spicy crab aglio olio and lobster pomodoro, $19 each. If you’re craving something healthy, the Bishan muesli — homemade gluten-free granola, yoghurt and green apple with passionfruit — won’t disappoint. The smoked-duck pizza, $16, should please if you plan to pop by for dinner. However, it was the potted cheese, $8, from the tapas menu that really won us over, as did the crunchy French toast, $14.

By the way, Middle Rock is open from 5pm to 1am (weekdays, Sunday and public holidays) and 5pm to 2am (Saturday and eve of public holidays). So, busy heartlanders can enjoy drinks, along with munchies from the tapas menu, well into the night with pals.

Tot-O-Meter: When bubba tires after expending his energy, let him cool down with a zingy lemonade, $4, even as he nibbles on chicken nuggets, $7, french fries, $8, or spaghetti with pomodoro sauce, $9. But if all that playing has created an appetite, the mini-grill up, $10 (served before 5pm) — scrambled eggs, beans, bacon and toast — will surely please.
