Dress up your digs with treasures from these two shops.

Let’s shop for the home

Mondays Off

Boring takes a day off at this chic lifestyle shophouse store in stylo mylo Haji Lane. Each item in Mondays Off — which features some 6oo unique buys — is thoughtfully selected by chief “dreamer” Leyna Poh, 27, and her brother Joel, 32, the numbers and operations expert.

Notes Leyna, “I’m really inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian and Japanese designs, which is very apparent in our store’s design, layout and products.”

Indeed, the 40-plus brands the shop carries hail from the US and South Korea, to South Africa and Denmark, and appeal to house-proud shoppers who love the simplicity of Scandinavian designs.

Leyna enthuses, “The styles and collections we introduce are so versatile that mums can mix it up between rooms or personalities.”

Although it started as an online shop in 2012, Mondays Off opened its 28sq m Haji Lane store in February last year. This cosy shop is the place to score Scandi-themed home furnishings, leather goods, as well Red Carousel party décor, along with stylish accessories like Tau & Upsilon brooches, Minifanfan totes and even whimsical pet bow ties and clothes.

We liked the Triangle cushions by Tinge, a Nutcracker statue, as well as Six Rolling Wheels kids’ cycling caps. It also offers healthy Pili Pushers nuts and Eastern granola.

In keeping with its motto that “Change is the only constant”, Mondays Off aims to introduce new and exclusive products every month. Later this year, design- conscious mums and dads can expect to find more kid-centric buys, including indie furnishings, plus fun clothing.

The store is frequented by both expats and locals. One ardent supporter is assistant manager Anna Sng, 35, mum to a 4-year-old, who has picked up anything from cushion covers and bags, to jewellery and granola, here.

She says, “The products are unique, stylish and make good gift ideas! The easy-going staff also recommends items when I’m buying gifts, nor do they do any hard-selling. I rate them eight out of 10.”
