FROM Agape Babies

WHAT This amazing machine heats, measures, dispenses and mixes water and powdered formula to the perfect temperature and consistency for your baby. Store your formula (most formula brands are suitable) in the airtight storage container and water in the easy-to-clean tank. Select your preferred bottle size you – 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 ounces – and press start. Your bottle will be made in 30 seconds or less.

PARENTS SAY You may question the need to fork out close to $300 for something that you could easily do without. But if waking up in the middle of the night to make a bottle for bubba is the bane of your existence, hey, go for it!

Gro Hush Baby Calmer

PRICE $67.41

FROM Agape Babies

WHAT Transmit soothing “white noise” to bubba to keep him relaxed and happy with this baby calmer. Hold it comfortably to his ear, and choose between three preset sounds – a mother’s heartbeat, the sound of rain, or ocean waves. The volume is preset at a safe and effective 75 decibels, plus it’s light and portable enough to take with you, even when you travel.

PARENTS SAY Caroline Lee, mum to Noah, 2 months, received the Gro Hush as a baby shower gift. “I had almost forgotten about it, but when I spotted it in his cupboard, I thought I’d give it a try since he was a horrible sleeper. The white noise didn’t put him to sleep, but it certainly calmed him down,” she says. However, do note that you’d have to hold the Gro Hush to your baby’s ear instead of just leaving it at his bedside, meaning you’ll probably have to be carrying him. Says Lee, “But still, it works better than my phone, because the white noise apps can get interrupted if I get a call or a text.”

Angelcare Video, Movement with Sound Monitor AC-1100

PRICE $499

FROM Angelcare

WHAT There’s no better way to keep track of your baby’s breathing and movements than the Angelcare monitor. Besides video and sound via an adjustable camera, there’s also an under-the-mattress sensor pad to detect all of your baby’s movements. An alarm sounds if no movement is detected for 20 seconds. There’s also a night vision function, plus a temperature display and control. By the way, you can use the monitor like a walkie-talkie, to reassure your baby with your voice, even when you’re not in the same room.

PARENTS SAY It’s a great comfort for parents to know that bubba is safe and secure in his crib, especially since the sensor pad detects any drop in movement, too. However, some parents found that the signal drops if you move too away far from the camera – so it’s probably more ideal for smaller homes. Also, it’s a tad pricier than other baby monitors.

Mimo Smart Baby Breathing & Activity Monitor

PRICE US$218.97/$306.10

FROM Amazon

WHAT Keep track of any changes to bub’s breathing and sleep patterns with this innovative monitor. Attach it to the adorable kimono onesies that come with it, and once you’ve downloaded the Mimo app, you’ll be able to access real-time information transmitted via Bluetooth or wifi. The Mimo system can detect pauses in breathing, if the baby rolls over, or if the baby wakes up, as well as levels of sleep (REM vs non-REM). You can also hear audio streamed live from your baby’s nursery. The set comes with the monitoring system, as well as three compatible onesies.

PARENTS SAY One mum found it particularly useful to track her baby’s sleep patterns: “Sometimes your baby is in the cot, but just isn’t sleeping. It’s useful to know how much deep sleep she gets so I can plan her daytime naps accordingly.” Plus, the kimono onesies are adorable!

Withings Smart Kid Scale

PRICE US$142.99

Measure bub’s weight using wifi or Bluetooth, then sync it with the Withings baby companion app and compare his weight with the typical weight of babies of his same gender and age. Convert it to a toddler scale when your baby outgrows it by removing the baby cradle.

PARENTS SAY This would be a lovely addition to your nursery, particularly if you are concerned about your baby’s weight. The stylish and sleek design would fit any modern baby room. It’s a fuss-free way to keep track of increases and decreases, plus you’ll have a nice memory of your baby’s growth. Unfortunately, it’s only iOS compatible and doesn’t work with Android phones.
